Best Character Dining...Ever!

Confession: Character meet and greets make me incredibly uncomfortable, so the concept of character dining has never been my favorite. Sure, I absolutely love the idea of getting to meet my favs, but in real life those meet ups translate to me being the most awkward version of myself. Nevertheless, I participate because deep down somewhere in my core, I actually enjoy them. I’ve tried several character meals, but none of them presented an experience I thought was worth raving about until now.

Enter Storybook Dining. This experience is new to Walt Disney World and takes place at Artist Point, located inside Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort. This is a truly immersive experience priced at $55 + tax for adults and $33 + tax for children ages 3-9. Everything from the themed food and drinks to dining room décor transports you into an enchanted forest.

On the night we dined, the characters in attendance were Snow White, Dopey, Grumpy, and the Evil Queen. Snow and the dwarfs visit each table to meet with guests, while the Evil Queen had a set where she stood. Disney Photopass is available at the Queen’s set. Warning, if you choose to go up and meet the Queen, you will be roasted. 😭

The lighting in the room was beautiful, hanging in the trees. The colors on the lights flickered and changed as well. Appetizers and desserts were served on a cute tree shaped platter!

With your meal you receive three shared appetizers and four shared desserts. You have the option to choose from a list of entrees.

The menu will change seasonally, but here is what was served during our visit.

Appetizers: Winter Squash Bisque, Hunter’s Pie, and Wicked Shrimp cocktail

The Core of the Story Entrees chosen by us: A Stroll through Nature (Me) Royal Prime Rib Roast (Taylor)

Storybook Dining…Shared desserts for the table: Miner’s Treasures, “Poison” Apple, Fairy Tale Gooseberry Pie, and the Hunter’s Gift to the Queen (Which came out separate from the other three desserts)

Let just say, we were stuffed after this one and needed to-go boxes.

This time around I did not try any of the Wicked Cocktails. The restaurant was behind on reservations, so we waited an hour for our reservation. While waiting, we had drinks in Territory Lounge next door, a hidden gem that I had no idea about! By the time our table was ready, we were good on the sweet cocktails.

This was by far my favorite character dining experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I’m going to try and book this again for September. I can’t wait to see what the fall season’s menu has in store.

 Thanks for Reading!
