5 Reasons To Sign Up For A runDisney Event
Let me start off by saying that I really dislike running, but I love to runDisney! I encourage anyone wanting to participate in a race to consider registering for a runDisney event and here is why.
1. You are worried about your skill/fitness level
You always want to take the proper precautions before any race event. That being said, runDisney races are great for beginners. The pace required is only a 16 minute mile, and both the courses in Orlando and Anaheim are relatively flat, which is less intimidating to some people. Because this is a novelty race, many of the runners are there for the fun more so than the run. There's less pressure to be super serious or intense about the actual racing. RunDisney offer a variety of race options, such as 5ks, 10ks, half marathons, marathons and challenges (combo of 2 or more races).
2. The unique photo ops
There will be photo ops like no other at these races. From the course entertainment, the finishers area, the parties, and expos, there are plenty of opportunities to get amazing race photos like no where else in the world. You can take pictures with your personal devices and there are photographers stationed, who take professional on course photos. Bonus~ If you have an annual pass or purchase memory maker, you get access to download all photos taken by the photographers at no extra cost!
3. Race swag
Race participants will get a champion material shirt for each registered race. 5k's racers are provided a unisex cotton t-shirt. Racers who participate in a challenge will receive a special challenge shirt in addition to the shirts for each registered race. These shirts are great for the gym! All racers also receive a lovely finishers metal for each completed race to congratulate your achievement. In addition to the items included with registration, you will have the opportunity to purchase limited edition race weekend merchandise at the expo.
4. Deciding on a race costume is just as exciting as the race
At this race, you can wear whatever awesome costume you want, as long as it is within Disney guidelines. You will see everything from tutus, race weekend shirts, and hand made props, etc. Spotting creative costumes and seeing guest as their favorite characters add to the runDisney experience. Picking out my own costume is always one of my favorite parts!
5. It's the perfect post race vacation!
After it's all over, there will be so much to do and so many ways to unwind. Once you complete a runDisney event, you get to sport your race bling around the property. You will be congratulated by cast and guests alike! You can get a well deserved massage at the spa, go shopping, grab a bite to eat, get a drink, and of course, go to the Disney Parks.
Keep in mind this post is written based on runDisney as of 2018. Currently, all races at the Anaheim resort have been canceled until further notice, due to construction projects, but are expected to resume after the completion of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
